Jane D. Kotz

OSAGE Jane D. Kotz, age 78, of Osage, died Thursday, November 19, 2009, in the Hospice Unit at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Dennis Hanson of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Osage officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, November 20, from 5 8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Jane D. Kotz Memorial Fund in care of the family.\r\n

Jane was born June 5, 1931, in Castalia, IA, the daughter of Claude and Ruth (Schroeder) Weaver. She was married to Stanley Kotz on January 30, 1949. They farmed together near Rock Falls. They also owned and operated Stans Drive-In in Osage for nearly 25 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City and a past member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Osage. She enjoyed listening to country music, going for rides to look for deer, reading, and friends and family.\r\n

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Debbie (Jim) Brakel of Sun City, AZ, Sheryl (Ed) Nikolas of Virginia Beach, VA, Dana (David) Thompson of Osage, IA; grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Nikolas of Virginia Beach, Jamie (Robert) Barclay of Avondale, AZ, Monica (Jeff) Dodd of Virginia Beach, Jill Thompson and Jenna Thompson, both of Osage; five great-grandchildren, Michael, Brooke, Jenna, Adam, and Ryan Olivia-Jane; many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.\r\n

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley Kotz; grandson, Joseph Brakel; sister, Marlus (Jean) Kramer; brother, Leland (Dick) Weaver.
