Janet G. Roberts, 64, of Mason City, IA, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Kenneth Gehling, Chaplain, Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. A private family inurnment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Charles City, IA. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Iowa Chapter, 1730 28th Street, West Des Moines, IA 50266, the American Cancer Society, 130 4th Street Southwest, Mason City, IA 50401 or Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd Street Southeast, Mason City, IA 50401. Janet Grace was born August 20, 1950, in Charles City, the daughter of Harold V. and Mary Evelyn (Beard) Doore. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Charles City in 1968, and continued her education at NIACC in Mason City. Janet married David K. Roberts on November 6, 1971, and to this union two children were born – Annette and David. She helped at her husband’s business, Roberts Clothes of Charm for over 30 years in Mason City. Janet was a Devout Catholic and enjoyed attending Noon Mass at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and socializing with people while wearing a big smile on her face. Janet was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, PEO Chapter KX and Study Club. Janet is survived by her children: Annette Dawson and husband Don of Indianola, IA, and David K. Roberts III of New York, NY; grandchildren: Don and Annie Dawson of Indianola; great-grandson: Riley Dawson; sister: Joan Blocker and husband Virgil of Dubuque, IA; brother: Jim Doore and wife Mary Lou of Toledo, OH; and sister-in-law: Susan Stilwell of Sioux Falls, SD. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2012; mother-in-law: Irene Roberts; and father-in-law: E.K. Roberts. Janet lived at the IOOF Home for many years. The family would like to express their deep thanks and appreciation to all the staff that cared for her. They would also like to thank all the nurses at Hospice of North Iowa.
