Janet P. Turner of 1520 First St. SW died Friday (August 15, 2003) at home. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday (August 30, 2003) at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 Willowbrook Drive, with Rev. Terry Hamilton-Poore officiating. There will be no visitation. The body has been donated to the University of Iowa School of Medicine, Iowa City. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or First Presbyterian Church. Janet was born in Moline, Illinois the daughter of Earl and Agnes (Novak) Wilson. She graduated from Moline High School then attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. She worked for the Rock Island Arsenal and Deere & Co. prior to her marriage to Dr. William R. Turner April 12, 1947 in Moline. They moved to Mason City in 1949 where Dr. Turner established his oral surgery practice. Janet was a member of First Presbyterian Church, PEO, Eastern Star, Bridge Club, Book Club, past grand Marshall of the North Iowa Band Festival, active in the AEA and was a volunteer for Mercy Medical Center North Iowa Auxiliary. Janet enjoyed knitting, china painting, fishing, traveling, entertaining and pets, especially her cats. She is survived by her children; Bill Turner and wife Linda of Newhall, Judy Shaw of Minneapolis, MN, Sue Wiedmann of Story City, Charley Turner and wife Carla of Ames, Grandchildren; Michelle Blaine, Art Turner, Mandy Turner, LaVern Shaw, Jenna Turner and Will Turner, Great Grandchildren; Jayme, Roland and Devin, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband; Dr. William R. Turner, Sister; Betty Payson and her husband Harry, Granddaughter; Anna Wiedmann.
