Lou Ann Ramsey, 78, of Mason City, died Monday, July 2, 2012 the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 6, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Dan Gerrietts officiating. Visitation will be held one our prior to the services at the church Friday. Interment will be held in Beaver Creek Cemetery in rural Joice, IA. Memorials may be directed to the Beaver Creek Cemetery Association. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com Lou Ann Ramsey was born in Worth County, Iowa on July 22, 1933. She was the third child and only daughter born to Oscar and Amy Slattum Ramsey. In October 1933, Lou Ann was baptized into the Christian faith at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church and was a faithful member of that congregation. Lou Ann attended Larson elementary school and Lake Mills High School. She was active in the marching band, playing French horn. Following graduation Lou Ann attended Waldorf College and graduated with an associate degree in elementary education. Her first teaching job was in Buffalo Center. While teaching school Lou Ann continued to take courses toward a bachelor’s degree and she graduated with a BA from Mankato State University. In 1963 Lou Ann accepted a position to teach 1st grade in Madison school in Mason City. She continued to teach 1st grade until she retired in 1994. In Mason City Lou Ann was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the altar guild. In the community Lou Ann was a member of Bible study groups, the IW Chapter of PEO, and the Mason City Women’s Club. She enjoyed genealogy and regularly communicated with and hosted Norwegian relatives. She loved to bake cookies and dinner rolls. Also she enjoyed needlework which she shared with her family and the craft show at Trinity. She was an avid reader. Survivors include her brother Philip, nephew Christian Ramsey, niece Laura O’Brien, dear friend Kay Engstrom, and many relatives and friends whom she always enjoyed. Lou Ann was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Donald and LaVerne.

Cemetery:
Interment will be held in Beaver Creek Cemetery in rural Joice, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the Beaver Creek Cemetery Association.

Visitation:
Visitation will be held one our prior to the services at the church Friday.
