Jay D. Waslick, 66, of Mason City, died due to complications of Parkinson’s, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 until 7 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to the Jay D. Waslick Memorial Fund in care of his family.
Jay was born February 8, 1951 the son of John and LaVonne R. (Eckard) Waslick in Mason City, Iowa. He graduated from Mason City High School. Jay was anavid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings on tv. In his younger years Jay enjoyed bowling. Jay looked forward to going out to eat with family and friends, he was known not to turn anyone down if they wanted to go. Jay spent most of his working career at Radio Shack. He was a faithful employee for 35 years.
Jay is survived by his two sisters, Garianne Fuller, Devvy Waslick; one brother, Johnnie Waslick all of Mason City; two step brothers, Lee and Ted Dority; brother in law, Ronnie Smith; nieces and nephews, Shellie Johanns, Shannon (Mark ) Dodd, Tim (Julie) Fuller, Crystal (Jeff) Schuld, Tammy Abney, Kelly (Jennifer) Waslick, Jamie Waslick, Travis Waslick and 14 great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Waslick was preceded in death by his parents, step father, Vendel “Bud” Dority and one sister Linda Smith.
