Mason City Jean Purcell, 86, of Mason City, was called to heaven on Saturday, September 11, 2010. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams, with Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Jean Purcell memorial fund in care of the family.
Jean was born on July 10, 1924 in Fort Dodge, IA. Jean and her parents Frank and Margaret Koll moved to Mason City when she was 9 years old. Jean graduated from Holy Family High School in Mason City, and St. Josephs Mercy School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA. She married Francis "Pat" Purcell on June 19, 1948 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Jean worked for Mercy Hospital in Mason City and then for Drs. Houlahan, Baker, Coddington, Gordon, and Hunt until she retired in 1987. After her retirement, Jean enjoyed the freedom of visiting with her children, spending time spoiling her grandchildren and playing lots of cards with her friends!
Jean is survived by her three daughters: Pam (Jim) McCoid of Lincoln, NE, Debbie (Mark) Cahill of Plymouth, MN, and Becky (Mike) McMenimen of Cedarburg, WI; 8 grandchildren: Tom McCoid, Scott (Sarah) McCoid, Katie McCoid, Courtney (Chris) Brenny, Erin (Chris) Mason, Molly (Bill) Rauen, Patrick and Allison McMenimen; 4 great grandchildren: Aaron, Noah, Adeline, and Ana.
She was preceded in death by her husband Pat, her parents, one brother, and three sisters.

Cemetery:
Interment will be at Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.
