Jean N. Stroeh

MASON CITY Jean N. Stroeh, age 89, of Mason City, died Friday, November 27, 2009, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 4, 2009, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Charles Aurand of First Christian Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Jean was born on December 15, 1919, in Denison, IA, the daughter of Forest and Edna (Waterhouse) Hemphill. She graduated from Hills High School in Hills, MN before going to beauty school in Sioux Falls, SD. Jean married Kelon Bud Stroeh on May 27, 1942, in Sioux Falls. She worked for Damons in the sale department for a number of years before retiring in 1981. She enjoyed golfing and bowling, and was a proud member of Workers Club, G.G.G. Sorority Club, a branch of Grandmothers Club, and was also a member of First Congregational Church.

Jean is survived by her children, David (Glenice) Stroeh of Mason City, Linda Hoeben of Crystal, MN, Nancie Morley of Savannah, GA; three grandchildren, Jason (Gail) Stroeh of Sheboygan, WI, Megan Hoeben, Allyson Hoeben, both of Crystal, MN; one great granddaughter, Ayanna Hoeben of Minneapolis, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
