Jeannine D. Wendel

MASON CITY – Jeannine D. Wendel, 82, of Mason City, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Chaplain Reverend Father Jerome Baker officiating. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Friday (May 11, 2012) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, and continue one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Jeannine Wendel memorial fund in care of the family. Jeannine was born October 8, 1929, in Mason City, the daughter of Palmer and Bernice (Luckason) Lucken. She graduated from Northwood High School in 1947, and continued her education at Waldorf College in Forest City, IA. She married George H. Wendel on August 21, 1949, in Kensett, IA. Together they farmed for many years. Prior to farming, Jeannine was a country school teacher. She enjoyed dancing, farming & taking care of her livestock, and tending to her flower & vegetable gardens. Jeannine was a businesswoman and a member of the Cattleman’s Association. Jeannine is survived by her husband of 62 years: George Wendel of Mason City; 3 daughters: Tanya Wendel and husband Thomas Norris of Indian Wells, CA, Kimberly Wendel of Clear Lake, IA, and Valerie Wendel-Filkins and husband Lyle Filkins of Omaha, NE; and one sister: Carolyn Rushton and husband Gerard of Iowa City, IA. She is also survived by special friend: Warren Millard of Mason City. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Don Lucken.

Cemetery:
Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery
