Jeffrey A. Pietig, 44, of Mason City, died Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday (April 19, 2012) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 302 5th St. S.E. with Rev. Craig Steimel officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday (April 18, 2012) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. A Rosary Service held at 7:00 P.M. followed by a Scriptural Wake Service. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or Newman Catholic Schools. Casketbearers will be some of Jeff’s high school friends, Troy Auen, Doug Fricke, Mike Thielen, Mitch McDermott: and friends from Mason City, Mike Hebel, Scott Steele, Chris Taylor and Jeff DeVary. Jeffrey A. Pietig was born May 2, 1967 in Mason City, Iowa. He was the son of James and Patty (Coolican) Pietig. He graduated in 1985 from Kuemper Catholic High School. He attended Buena Vista University after High School. He worked for the family Pepsi business in Carroll and eventually moved to Mason City in 1993. He worked in sales for Eagle Snacks and then KAR Products. Jeff enjoyed attending his children’s numerous activities and events, watching hockey games and collecting Pepsi memorabilia. He loved spending the summers in Spirit Lake at the family cabin, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, and in his younger years waterskiing. Jeff loved to visit with any stranger and could make friends where ever he went. He loved the time he spent with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Jeff is survived by his children, Courtney, Nicole, Stacey and Hunter Pietig; their mother, Sandy (Buchanan) Pietig all of Mason City; his mother, Patty Pietig of Carroll; siblings, Teri Scharfenkamp and husband Tom and Tony Pietig and wife Julie all of Carroll, IA; grandmother, Ava Coolican of Mason City; nieces and nephews, Tanner and Tori Scharfenkamp and Max, Simon, and Meredith Pietig of Carroll; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, James Pietig in 2000; paternal grandparents, Louis and Genevieve Pietig and maternal grandfather, Pat Coolican.

Cemetery:
Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
