Jennie A. Boggess, 89, of Mason City, died Monday, September 10, 2012, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, on Thursday, September 13, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia, with Rev. Sean McRoberts officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Wednesday (September 12, 2012) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Jennie Boggess memorial fund in care of the family. Jennie was born August 17, 1923, in Mason City, IA, the daughter of William and Jennie (Hammer) Shepard. She attended St. Joseph’s School in Mason City. At age 10, her family moved to a farm near Hampton, IA – where she attended public school. Jennie lived in Charles City, IA most of her life, before returning to Mason City in 1986. Jennie worked for Welcome Haven Nursing Home in Charles City for 30 years and also as a Caregiver for Home Health/Charles City Hospital for 2 years, before her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Jennie was an outgoing and giving person with a big heart. She enjoyed attending church and visiting with others. She also enjoyed being a foster grandparent. Jennie is survived by 3 sons: Rodney of Davenport, IA, Raymond of Des Moines, IA, and Mark of Mason City, IA; 5 grandchildren: Jayson, Jessie, Reuben, James, and Heather; 4 great grandchildren; and one brother-in-law: Elmer Hall of Charles City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son: James; one grandson; two brothers: Reuben and Donald; one sister: Evelyn Hall; and daughter-in-law: Jan.

Cemetery:
Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery

Memorials may be directed to the Jennie Boggess memorial fund in care of the family

Visitation:
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Wednesday (September 12, 2012) at Major Erickson Funeral Home

Service:
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, on Thursday, September 13, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church
