Jerry was born in Tyler, MN on July 29, 1946. He grew up in and around Pipestone, MN. As a young adult he joined the army and served for a short time. After his time in the service, he moved to Mason City, IA and worked as a mechanic. Later he started work as a Conductor/Brakeman on the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. On June 11, 1977 he was married to Rosalie Ann Sanborn of Mason City, IA. Together, they moved to Lake Crystal, MN, as part of Jerrys railroad work, and started a family of their own. They eventually moved back to Mason City, and after being injured on the job, Jerry then spent his time enjoying home life and his children. He could often be found gardening, hunting, fishing, and working with his dogs, as well as traveling in his Airstream trailer. He had a passion for NASCAR, and was an avid Earnhardt fan. With all of his children grown, he was able to look for and find the home in which he and Rosalie could enjoy their retirement years. Jerry died peacefully at home on October 12, 2008. He was often told that he had a big heart and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. He touched many lives, both near and far, and befriended countless people throughout his entire life. Jerry will surely be missed by too many to mention.
