Jimmie Dale Jarshaw was born on February 11, 1938 in Forest City, Iowa, son of Justin and Anna (Olson) Jarshaw. At the age of 11, following the death of his mother, he was raised by his sister and her husband, Audrey and Alroy Hanna, in rural Woden. He graduated from Woden High School and Midland Linotype School. He worked as a printer at several newspapers throughout the Midwest before moving to California. He met his wife Barbara in San Francisco, California. Jimmie worked as a sign printer for Emporium Capwell, a major department store in San Francisco. After moving to Walnut Creek, CA, he went to work at Target. He was employed first as a greeter and later worked in security. They returned to Mason City in recent years to be with his family.
Jimmie’s family and friends will greatly miss his loving and gentle spirit, strong faith, and kind heart. He was a gentle man who never met a stranger. Jimmie had a strong passion and God given talent for writing poetry which reflected his love and faith in mankind. The world was a better place for all who knew and loved Jimmie.
Jimmie is survived by his wife Barbara, Mason City; brother-in-law, Ronn Johnson, Decatur, Indiana; nieces Deb Brock (Mike), Mason City; Linda Jensen (Duane), Colorado Springs, Colorado; Brenda Underbakke (Phil), Blue Earth, Minnesota; and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
We wish to thank the staff at Good Shepherd for their love and wonderful care.
