Joe E Gansen, 53, of Mason City, died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, April 13, 2018 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue – Mason City with Rev. Kathleen R. Moore officiating.
A gathering will begin at 1:00pm
Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St Joseph Cemetery.
Joe was born was born March 20, 1965 in Charles City, Iowa the son of Larry “Joe” and June (Wilcox) Gansen. Joe attended Marble Rock elementary and middle school and high school in Hampton. He was a graduate of Hampton High Class of 1983. Joe graduated from NIACC in 1985 and Golden West College in Huntington Beach, CA in 1990. Joe spent the majority of his career in the human services field, working in California and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Joe returned to North Iowa in 2000 to live closer to his family. He worked at HyVee West in Mason City and then One Vision (Opportunity Village) in Clear Lake until his death.
Joe had love and compassion for every person he met throughout his life. He loved to laugh and always had everyone around him laughing. His family and friends are blessed with happy memories of Joe and his shenanigans. He enjoyed fishing and cooking. He was also a collector of many things from autographs, coins, rocks to gem stones.
Joe is survived by his sister, Jackie Vogelgesang, niece, Sydney Vogelgesang, and nephew, Spencer Vogelgesang all of Mason City, along with many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
