John David Hendrickson

John David Hendrickson, 52, of Mason City, IA, died Saturday August 13, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the St. James Lutheran Church,1148 4th Street SE, with Pastor Jeni Bohls officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to the John Hendrickson Memorial Fund in care of his family.

John David Hendrickson was born November 25, 1963, the son of Arvin and Burnetta (Ochsendorf) Hendrickson in Canby, MN. He attended and graduated from Canby High School in the class of 1982. Following high school John continued his education at Luther College in Decorah, graduating in 1986. On November 6, 1998, John was united in marriage to Vicki Forey in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

John was a passionate sports fan, especially when it came to the Minnesota Vikings and the Golden Gophers. His love of the game of baseball showed through his vigor in the stands, whether it was being the first to arrive for the game or his vocal cries during the battle. He enjoyed following Zach and the rest of the Mohawk baseball team over the years. John cherished his travels with Zach and the numerous college visits with Megan. He always looked forward to spending time with family and friends. During family get togethers John enjoyed playing cards, especially spoons. John was a very strong but laid back, sensitive person. He enjoyed teasing and poking fun at his nieces and nephews and anyone else who needed it. John loved country music, crossword puzzles and satisfying his sweet tooth.

Those thankful for having shared his life include his wife, Vicki, children, Megan (Luke) Grove of Fort Dodge, Zachery Hendrickson of Mason City, four grandchildren, Emie, Alayna, Brynlee and Kasyn Grove, three sisters, LeAnn (Bob) Feller, Linda (Allan) Nyman, Sharon (Cliff) Strege, three brothers, Dennis (Cindy) Hendrickson, Lyle (Cheryl) Hendrickson, Joel (Debbie) Hendrickson and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mr. Hendrickson was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Ryan Strege.
