John I. Repp

September 4, 1926 — August 8, 2015

John Irwin Repp, 88, of Mason City, died Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Avenue with Mary Snell and Pastor Kent Mechler officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be directed to the John Repp Memorial Fund.

John was born September 4, 1926 in Mason City the son of Irwin and Lulu (Pearce) Repp. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1944, attended Mason City Junior College and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1949. John married Barbara Freudenberg September 26, 1951 in Mason City. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Following the war, he returned to Mason City and began working for Jacob E. Decker and Sons in the plant office. Following the closing of the plant in 1975, he went to work for Farmers Co-Operative Gas & Oil as their bookkeeper. He was last employed as manager of the NIAD Credit Union before he retired. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church and former member of the Men’s Garden Club. A few of his interests included following his grandchildren and their activities, hunting, coaching youth baseball in Mason City and watching the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team.

John is survived by his wife, Barbara of Mason City; son, Mark (Patricia) Repp of Mason City; daughter, Carla (John) Kohler of Nora Springs; grandchildren, Nathan Repp of Mason City, Brandon (Lisa) Repp of Ankeny, Adam (Beth) Kohler of Scranton, Kyle (Ashley) Kohler of Nora Springs and Joel (Kristi) Kohler of Rockwell; great grandchildren, Anders, Ellinah and Nicole Repp, Colton and Kallan Kohler.

John was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Mary Hungerford.
