Mason City Joseph C. Lynch, 82, of Mason City, died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Major Erickson Funeral Home 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Larry Day of Victory in Christ Free Methodist Church officiating. Visitation from 5:00 PM 7:00 PM on Tuesday (August 2, 2011) at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed Hospice of North Iowa. Joseph Charles Lynch was born, December 16, 1928, the son of Claude L. and Viola M. (Lee) Lynch in Mason City. He attended and graduated from Mason City High School in 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952 and served in the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1953. He returned to Mason City and was married to Linda L. Larson on March 25, 1961 in Princeton, Missouri, to this union three sons were born.
Joe worked at Jacob E. Deckers in the box room, then moved to Fort Madison, IA and worked as a can inspector. He then came back to Mason City and inspected meat on the conveyer belt at the Armour building, a couple of years later he retired after 38 years of service. He enjoyed his work, camping, fishing and traveling in his motor home with his family. Family was important to him and he enjoyed the time he spent with them. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of Mason City; sons, Larry Lynch and fiance Flossie of Forest City, James Lynch of Mason City, Jerry Lynch of San Fransisco, CA; daughter, Pam Langhoff and husband Dave of Mason City; four grandchildren, Justin (Jacki) Lynch, Steven Lynch, Crystal Lynch, Andy Lynch; great-grandchildren, Kyndra, Annabel and Jaxon Wilcox; sister, Betty Jane Kalvig of Mason City; nephew, Joe Kalvig; and sister-in-law, Deeann Lee Horstman.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; brother-in-law, David Kalvig and Joe Horstman.

Memorials:
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed Hospice of North Iowa.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.
