MASON CITY Joseph M. Palmieri, age 57, of Mason City, died Saturday, October 31, 2009, in Iowa City. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday (November 7, 2009) at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday (November 6, 2009) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. and also one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the Joseph M. Palmieri memorial fund in care of the family.
Joseph Michael Palmieri was born July 2, 1952 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the son of Anthony and Mary (Crowley) Palmieri. He attended school in Mason City and graduated in 1970. He attended NIACC where he received a degree in Ag Power Mechanics and also Design Drafting. He was married to Ezme Cunningham at Trinity Lutheran Church on March 11, 1983. He worked for IMI Cornelius for 15 years as a draftsman, he then went to work for IMT in Garner as a draftsman for 5 years until going to work for Veenstra & Kim as a design drafter.
In his free time he enjoyed being a chauffer for Odessey Limousine. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching all sporting events. Joe was an active volunteer and could always be found at his childrens many activities through the years. Joe had a big heart and was always happy to help. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 25 years, where he served as an usher. Joe loved being around his friends and especially his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joe is survived by his wife, Ezme of Mason City; children, Elizabeth Smith and husband Trevor, Paige Peyton, Michael Palmieri and Sarah Palmieri; grandson Jamie Andren; brothers, Stan Francisco and partner Brian Stemen, Ron Francisco; aunt, Evelyn Treece; niece and nephews, Tara Francisco, Brent Thomas and Emily Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and aunts and uncles.
