Joseph Patrick Allo passed away at age 90 on Dec. 6, 2013 in Mason City, IA. A visitation will be held at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel in San Bernardino, California from 11 A.M. to noon on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, followed by a service and burial at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Hospice of North Iowa or an Alzheimers research center or the City of Hope. Joe was born on Feb. 10, 1923, in New Rochelle, NY to Sam and Mary Allo. He joined the Army Air Corps prior to WWII and served in the Pacific. Sgt. Allo was honorably discharged in 1946 and married Ruth Borel. He completed college on the GI Bill at Danbury State Teacher's College, and later received an MA from Columbia University. He was an elementary school teacher and then a principal in both Iowa and later in California for most of his 34 year career. He had a positive influence on many students and teachers. Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ruth; brothers Frank and Sammy, and eldest son Jim. He is survived by son Rich (Kay), daughters Kathryn Kearney (Stan) and Teresa Porter (Ray). He had eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
