Josephine L. Ruiz

Josephine L. Ruiz, 99, of Mason City, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the IOOF Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 1 p.m., at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania, with Deacon Jim Wolf officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held an hour prior to service time on Monday. Memorials may be directed to the family of Josephine Ruiz.

Josephine (Vasquez) Ruiz was born on March 22, 1925, in Mason City, to parents Amado and Lupi Vasquez. She was united in marriage to Joseph F. Ruiz at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on May 17, 1956. To this union, the couple were blessed with two sons.

Josephine worked at Armor Food Co. for over 30 years, retiring in the late 90s. She was a member of Epiphany Parish in Mason City, and she enjoyed crocheting, gardening, sewing, and making homemade jewelry. 

Josephine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by the people that knew her and loved her.

Josephine is survived by her sons, Anthony (Deanna) Ruiz and Francis Ruiz; four grandchildren, Joshua, Megan, Harley, and Vanessa (Casey Banker). 

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 2002; and parents, Amado and Lupi; and seven siblings.
