June M. Schumpp, 99, of Mason City, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at the Epiphany Parish St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Neil Manternach and Msgr. John Hemann officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 PM Wednesday with a scripture wake service at 6:30 PM at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.
June was born June 23, 1916 in Lamoni, Iowa, the second daughter of seven children to Lee R. Martin and Lula (Slaughter) Martin. She was raised on a farm near Woolstock, Iowa.
On June 30, 1941 June was united in marriage to Walter H. Schumpp at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion, Iowa. June loved the home arts. She was an amazing baker – her pies, rolls and brownies were her specialties. She sewed custom draperies and clothes for her family. June loved to knit and crochet. She enjoyed traveling with Walt after he retired, especially to see family on both coasts. June was a member of The Epiphany Parish St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
June is survived by her three daughters; Dolores Kimball of Mason City, Dorothy (Paul) Scheffelman of Madison, Wisconsin, Barbara (Edward) Halbach of Clear Lake, six grandchildren; Diane Evans, Matthew (Ying), Sara, Christopher (Emily) Scheffelman, Heather (Michael) Johnson, Sean Cornelius, great-grandchildren; Will, Jackson, Mallory Evans, Ella, Satya, Lily, Leo Scheffelman and Rylan Johnson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her parents, and her brothers and sisters.
