Karley Josephine Schrandt

Karley Josephine Schrandt, 2 years old, went to be with Jesus on December 30, 2020, at The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

A private family service will be held at the Plymouth Baptist Church. Services will be live streamed on the Major Erickson Funeral Home Facebook page at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. Interment will be held in the Lincoln Township Cemetery, Fertile, Iowa.

Memorials can be directed to the family of Karley Schrandt.

Karley was born on December 17, 2018, to parents William Schrandt and Sarah Callow at The University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. She stayed there for many months before she was able to come home due to her extensive health issues.

Karley was a fighter. She endured so much in her short life both at the hospital and at home.
She may not have had many milestones or achievements but when she was happy, you knew it! Her smile was ear to ear and her eyes said so much! She worked hard for her accomplishments that came easily for many babies.

She was born with a rare condition called CHEDDA, affecting many areas of the body. Currently there are only 15 known cases in the entire world so she was one rare, little unicorn.

Her second family at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital consisted of many nurses, doctors, and other health professionals, as well as a select few who became like family. She was a favorite there and word spread quickly when she came back "to visit". She enjoyed going on golf cart rides, walks, and watching her sisters play. She loved being surrounded by many bright colors, lights, and anything that caught her eye.

She is missed dearly but now she is with Jesus, enjoying all the things she just wasn't able to do here with her family and those who cared about her.

Karley is survived by her parents, William Schrandt and Sarah Callow; Her sisters Ava Williams and Ivy Mae Callow; Grandparents Ron and Sheila Callow of Clear Lake, IA and Gene and Mary Schrandt of Charles City, IA; many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins.

She was preceded in death by her Uncle, Steven Knudson.
