Kathleen A. Briggs

Kathleen A. Briggs, 67, of Mason City, died Monday, May 2, 2016 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota. A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 440 N. Illinois Avenue with Pastor Scott Davis officiating. Per family request, her body will be cremated. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Kathy was born August 24, 1948 in Forest City, Iowa the daughter of Vernon and Adeline (Thompson) Ulve. She graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1966 and Hamilton Business College in 1967. Kathy married Gary D. Briggs June 19, 1971 in Lake Mills. Kathy worked 35 years at Baker Floral here in Mason City. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church, Gideon’s Auxiliary, card club and was one of the first announcers on KCMR Radio. Kathy lived in Frankfurt, Germany for 16 months while Gary served in the US Army. They traveled to 10 countries and attended the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. A few of her interests included, reading, cooking, playing games on her I-Pad, traveling, plants and flowers and any outdoor activity, especially trout fishing with Gary. The family would like to express their thanks for everyone who prayed for Kathy during the last two years. Special thanks for the Doctors, nurses and staff at Mayo Clinic as well as medical staff in Mason City for their outstanding care and concern for Kathy. They are all angels!

Kathy is survived by her husband, Gary of Mason City; 1 son, Aaron (Nicole) Briggs of Hubbard, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob, Aspen and Kinsley all of Hubbard; 5 siblings, Darryl, David, Dale, Dean and Carol.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.
