MASON CITY Kathryn L. Andon, 90, of Mason City, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at the IOOF Home in Mason City. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, 119 South Georgia, with the Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials may be directed to the Kathryn L. Andon memorial fund in care of the family.
Kathryn was born December 30, 1919, in Rolla, Missouri, to Lloyd and Della (Witter) Clay. She graduated from Mason City High School in the class of 1937. After graduation she attended St. Joseph College of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa, graduating in 1941. After graduation she worked as a registered nurse at the Park Hospital, and then at the Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she and Paul David Hartigan were married. Later she worked at the Driscal Foundation Childrens Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. After returning to Mason City, she worked as an office nurse for Dr. H.J. Roddy and then for the Mason City Public School system as a school nurse for 21 years. She was a member of the American Red Cross, the American Nurse Association, Tenth District Nurse Association, and St. Joseph Mercy Alumni Association. Kathryn was a member of the First United Methodist Church and KB Circle. She joined the North Iowa Genealogical Society and was one of the first docents of the Stockman House, she also volunteered for many other organizations as well.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Saug; sister-in-law, Beverly Clay, both of Mason City; two daughters, Karen Blase and her husband, Raymond, of Ankeny, Barbara Cornelius and her husband, Richard of Mason City; two grandchildren, Katie (Richard) Julkowski of Minneapolis,MN, Paul (Lynne) Cornelius of Altoona; three great-grandchildren, Ella and Olivia Julkowski and Kasey Cornelius. She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Della Clay; a brother, Max Clay; a sister, Charlotte Sinnott; and husbands, Paul Hartigan, Jerry Kinvig, and John Andon.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Homestead Assisted Living, the IOOF Home, and Hospice of North Iowa for the care she received.

Memorials may be directed to the Kathryn L. Andon memorial fund in care of the family.

Cemetery:
Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
