Kathryn M. Kellar

Kathryn M. Kellar, 84, Mason City died Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday (November 22, 2006) at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 329 East State Street, with the Rev. Sid Bohls officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Kathryn M. Kellar memorial fund or to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Women?s Circle. Kathryn was born on January 23, 1922 to Joe H. and Phoebe S. (Olson) Frye. At the age of thirteen she and her family moved to Swea City, IA where she attended school. She was married to Lloyd E. Kellar on February 9, 1942 in Alexandria, LA. In 1945 Lloyd and her moved to Mason City where they spent the remainder of their lives. Kathryn worked in sales at Artz-Merritt Sporting Goods and Younkers. She also worked in the drapery department at Webers and retired in 1989. Kathryn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the church and many church organizations. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Kathryn is survived by her sons, Lloyd Kellar Jr. and wife Judy of Nampa, ID, Richard Kellar of Aberdeen, WA, James Kellar of Lake City, MN, Donald Kellar and wife Diana of Mason City; grandchildren, Brenda Christiansen, Laura Clubb, Robbie Kellar, Heather Winters, Gregory Kellar, Stephanie Ruefer, Michael Kellar, Amy Petersen, Brandon Kellar, Jared Kellar and Lindsay Nuehring; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; and one brother, Granville Frye of Bowie, MD. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; sister, Arlene Stall; one brother, Thorvald Johnson and daughter-in-law Mardelle. Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
