Mason City ? Kenneth E. Rasmusson, 76 of Mason City passed away to the sounds of a fire alarm and fire trucks on September24, 2005 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Curtis DeLong of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 ? 7 PM on Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Kenneth E. Rasmusson Memorial Fund. Kenneth E. Rasmusson was born November 12, 1928 the son of Edward and Elnora (Johnson) Rasmusson third oldest of eight children in Crystal Lake. Kenneth rode to school by a team of horses in Crystal Lake. When he was ten years old they moved to Mason City and he attended Roosevelt School and Mason City High School. Kenneth worked for Decker?s for a short time and then worked at Al and Dick?s Wrecker service for many years. All of the boys had a paper route when he began working for the Globe Gazette. Kenneth poured the lead and kept the building clean. He retired from the Globe Gazette with over 25 years of service in 1971. Kenneth then worked odd jobs as a handyman for Lyle Bergo. They became very close friends and remained so until Kenneth?s health began to deteriorate in 2004. Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Patsy Berneman, his favorite son-in-law, Bill Berneman both of Mason City, one granddaughter Karen England and husband Aaron of Mason City; three brothers, Delmond ?Dutch? Rasmusson and wife Bonnie of Embrass, Minnesota, Mearle Rasmusson and wife Linda of Algona, and Calvin ?Chris? Rasmusson and wife Leann of Mason City; many nieces and nephews, a grand-kitty, Snoopy; and a great grand-kitty, Butter-Cup. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elnora, two sisters, Vivian and Marlene and two brothers, Andrew and Ray. Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
