MASON CITY Klaire L. Baltzer, 71, of Mason City, died Monday, August 17, 2009 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held 11:00A.M. on Saturday (September 19, 2009) at the First United Methodist Church - WAYside Chapel, 119 S. Georgia, with the Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Nashua, IA. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Klarie Baltzer memorial fund, in care of the family.
Klaire was born September 24, 1937 in Charles City, IA, the son of Keith L. and Thelma L. (Hermanson) Baltzer. He graduated from Shell Rock High School in 1955. Over the years, he worked for Good Shepherd, Metal Craft and the Railroad. Klaire loved sports, especially football and baseball. He enjoyed watching golf and visiting with his neighbors. Klaire was dedicated to watching everything that occurred at NASA space shuttles and the International Space Station.
Klaire is survived by his sister: Karel Jones of Nashua, IA; two nephews: Jeff Jones and family of Waterloo, IA, Tim Jones and family of West Jordan, UT; two nieces: Angela Lewis and family of Layton, UT, Jennifer Babcock and family of Lincoln, NE. He is also survived by his very special friends: Ed and Deanna Harris of Rockford, IA
He was preceded in death by his parents.
