WASECA, MINNESOTA: LaMae Christensen Holmen, 91, of Waseca, Minnesota formerly of Mason City, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Colony Court Memory Care in Waseca. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City, Iowa with Pastor Ken Livingston officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the LaMae Holmen memorial fund in care of the family.
LaMae was born August 4, 1924, in Swaledale, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Cecelia (Tibbits) Christensen. She graduated from Swaledale High School in 1941. LaMae married Arvid “Ole” Holmen August 21, 1948 in Mason City. Ole passed away in 1991. She worked for Borden’s Ice Cream Company, Mode O’ Day, and Carter & Gilles Toyland until 1965 when she and Ole moved to Shakopee, Minnesota where Ole was employed by Bolander & Company. While in Shakopee, she worked for Minnesota Rubber. They returned to Iowa in 1972 and lived on an acreage in the Swaledale and Burchinal area. LaMae renewed her faith in Christ and was baptized in Mille Lacs Lake in 1985. LaMae moved to Mason City in 1996 and in 2013 to Waseca to be closer to her nephew, Brad.
LaMae is survived by her brother, Melvin Christensen of Aikin, Minnesota; sister, Joyce Losee of Marble Rock, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and 1 sister, Lola
