MASON CITY: Larry A. Ritter, 67, of Mason City, was called to his 2nd tour of duty to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, November 11, 2013 at Rolling Acres Christian Reformed Church, 340 20th Street SW with Pastor Nate de Vries officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church Monday one hour prior to services. Memorials may be directed to the Larry A. Ritter Memorial Fund. Larry was born December 26, 1945 in Mason City the son of Paul and Helen (LeDuc) Ritter. Larry graduated from Mason City High School in 1965, and North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). He served in the US Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged after serving two years. Larry married Patricia McKibben March 23, 1968 in Mason City. Larry worked at Northwestern States Portland Cement Company (Holcim) for 42 years. He was a member of VFW Post 733, Vietnam Veterans of America, and American Legion Post 8363, Rockport, Texas. Some of his interests include hunting, fishing, playing games on his Kindle, watching TV, and rooting for his favorite Football team, the New Orleans Saints. Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia of Mason City; daughters, Jean (David) Whitney of Mason City, Suzanne (Steven) Volkmer of Mason City; grandchildren, Lauren and Sarah; step grandchildren, Tyler and Braden; sister, Teresa Ritter of Mason City. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Helen Ritter; father and mother in-law, Thomas Ross and Thelma “Rucille” McKibben.
