Lawrence C. Kofoot, 88, of Mason City, died Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 North Delaware, with the Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday (March 27, 2007) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the Lawrence C. Kofoot memorial fund. Larry was born August 31, 1918 in Rockwell, Iowa the son of Hans and Sophie (Sies) Kofoot. He attended schools in Rockwell and graduated in 1936. He entered the Army and served in WWII in the European Theatre from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. For his honorable service he was awarded many medals, including the Bronze Star. He was married to Rosie Legler on June 15, 1947 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City. He worked as chief engineer for the Hanford Hotel, now the Manor for forty years until his retirement. After retirement he worked part-time for the Sheraton Hotel in the maintenance department. Larry liked to read and spend time with is family. He was a long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he served on the finance committee for many years. Larry is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Rosie Kofoot of Mason City; son, Jon Kofoot of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Jacob, Samuel, and Hannah Kofoot of Minneapolis, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
