Mason City ? Lena M. Keithahn, 93 of Mason City died Monday, April 4, 2005 at Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services for Lena will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 7, 2005 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 100 First Street NE with Rev. Samuel Hamilton ? Poore officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor?s choice. A private interment service will be held at the Hampton Cemtery. Lena was born August 4, 1911 the daughter of Jacob and Henrietta (Henriksen) Madsen in Clarion. She was raised on a farm in the Latimer area, and graduated from Latimer High School in 1929. Lena attended the University of Northern Iowa where she graduated in 1935 receiving her BA in teaching. She also received her Masters in Education from Colby College in 1968. Lena was united in marriage to Rollo C. Keithahn on June 11, 1938 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She taught Home Economics and Biology in the Mason City Community School District for 25 years and retired in 1976. Lena was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Woman?s Club, Monday Club, the Retired Teachers Association, PEO Chapter IY and Women?s Fellowship at the church. She was also involved with the Girl Scouts, MacNider Art Museum, Lime Creek Nature Center, and the Stockman House. Lena is survived by her daughter, Mary Keithahn of Minneapolis, Minnesota; cousins, Phyllis and Ralph Borel of Clarion. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rollo, son Charles, and brother, Jacob Madsen JR.
