Leona A. Wernet, 85, of 501 South Kentucky, died Friday, September 29, 2006 at the Heritage Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday (October 3, 2006) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with Rev. Tom Healey officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be given to the Leona A. Wernet memorial fund. Leona A. Wernet was born January 25, 1921 in Rock Creek, Iowa the daughter of Emil A. and Emma (Wilde) Bublitz. She received her education in Grafton, Iowa and then graduated from Grafton High School in 1939. Leona married Leonard D. Wernet on October 29, 1942 in Grafton, Iowa. She also attended Hamilton School of Business. Leona worked as a clerk for Ruan Transport Company for 20 years. She retired in 1986. Leona enjoyed being a homemaker, she was an excellent cook and loved spending time with her children and family. She liked the spring and summer seasons and also the outdoors, especially the trees and birds. She liked listening to country western music and dancing. Leona will always be remembered by her family for her wonderful sense of humor. Leona is survived by her children, Gary Wernet and wife Dee Dee of Port Orchard, WA, Marlys Baumann and husband Ernie of Northwood, IA, Don Wernet and wife Donna of Mason City, Jim Wernet and wife Julie of Mason City; grandchildren, Mike Wernet and wife Mel of Port Orchard, WA, Todd Wernet and wife Cindy of Federal Way, WA, Mardell Blevins and husband Dave of Port Orchard, WA, Jamey Jimenez and wife Nancy of Scottsdale, AZ, David Jimenez and wife Kim of Mason City, Logan Wernet and wife Brenda of Mason City, and Jacob and Mackenzie Wernet of Mason City; great-grandchildren, Amy, Casey, Ryan, Jordan, Matthew, Joshua, Jacky, Zachary, Gabrielle, Courtney, Colton and Trevor; one great-great-grandchild, Piper and also nieces and nephews Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers.
