Leonard H. Pat" Kelck

Leonard H. ?Pat? Kelck, 77 of Mason City died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services for Pat will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, July 16, 2004 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 North Delaware Avenue with the Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation for Pat will be from 5:00 PM ? 8:00 PM on Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue. A memorial fund has been established in Pat?s name. Leonard H. ?Pat? Kelck was born May 18, 1927 the son of Frank and Daisy (Barber) Kelck in Bath Township, Cerro Gordo County. Pat attended country school and graduated from Rockwell High School in 1945. Following his graduation Pat went to work for Borden?s Ice Cream Factory, where he worked for 31 years. Pat was united in marriage to Violet M. Boehnke on June 6, 1948 at St. John?s rural Garner. After eleven years of working as a custodian at NIACC he retired. Pat was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he served on the Board of Ushers, taught Sunday School and served as a money counter. He also was very active with the Owen Township Country School House at the North Iowa Fair Grounds. Pat won the Cerro Gordo and Fayette County BBQ Cooking Contest. He also placed in this same division at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. For the past several years he wintered in Lakeland, Florida. Pat will be remembered as a kind and generous person who always gave a helping hand. Pat is survived by his son, Lynn Kelck and his wife Bev of West Union, Iowa; daughter, Linda Schwickerath and husband Lynn of New Hampton, Iowa; four grandchildren, Brad Schwickerath and wife Toni of New Hampton, Iowa, Brent Schwickerath of New Hampton, and Kellie and Krista Kelck both of West Union, Iowa; three sister?s, Emma Clubb of Mason City, Marion Baker and husband Robert of Clear Lake, Iowa; Ruth Kelck of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by his parents and wife Violet Kelck.
