After successfully defeating breast cancer in January of 2008, Linda L. Naumann-Jolas, 62, of Mason City, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota, following an abrupt battle with leukemia. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Steve Palo officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church. Linda was born April 5, 1947 in Mason City the daughter of Arthur and Lucille (Erickson) Halverson. She graduated from Nora Springs High School. A mother of four, Linda worked for the Mason City School District driving bus. During that time, she attained her real estate license and began working part-time at Century 21. As her real estate career flourished, Linda advanced to broker/owner of ReMax Results Realty with her husband of twelve years, Thomas E. Jolas. In addition to her outstanding sales performance and achievements in the real estate profession, Linda was very committed to being active in her community. She was involved in many community organizations including the Mason City School Board, Francis Lauer Youth Services, United Way, North Iowa Saddle Club, and Horsemen of Iowa. Faith was vital to Linda as she was an active life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church. As a loyal member of the congregation, she participated on various boards and committees. Linda served as co-chair of the 2009 Trinity Lutheran Church Relay for Life raising over $9,000.00. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who sacrificed greatly for all. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt who always put family first. A loyal friend who treasured her many friendships that were formed throughout her life. Linda was passionate about her work, clients, and always rooted for the under-dog. She loved to have fun and pull pranks on unsuspecting victims. In her free time, you would find her outdoors on her acreage, working in her barn, competing in horse shows, and spending time with family and friends.
Linda is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Jolas of Mason City; children, Scott A. (Danielle) Naumann of Dougherty, Susan M. (Carey) Umbarger of Garner, Staci L. (Mark) Mellman of Mason City, and Sonya (Jeff Skinner) Naumann of Iowa City; grandchildren, Nicholas and Morgan Naumann, Gabe, Grady, and Sam Umbarger, Payton, Myah, and Avery Mellman; sister, Joann (Les) Deardeuff of Rockwell; brother, Rich Halverson of Mason City; many nieces and nephews; Toms children and grandchildren, Van (Leigh) Jolas of Dallas, TX, Stephanie (Michael) Durkin of Boston, MA, and Paul (Apryl) Jolas of Dallas, TX; Mark, Grace, Sophie, Olivia, Alexis, and Alle.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, sisters, Donna Fingalsen and Dixie Shanks; sister-in-law, Andi Halverson.
