Lizabeth L. Peterson, 63, of Mason City, IA, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania, with Rev. Steve Hansen officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the church service. Inurnment will take place at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Forest City, IA. Memorials may be directed to the Lizabeth Peterson memorial fund in care of the family.
Lizabeth was born May 29, 1952, in Webster City, IA, the daughter of Wendell and LaVonne (Snell) Elliott. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1970, and continued her education at Iowa Central Community College in Webster City, IA and Westmar College in Le Mars IA, graduating with her BS in 1974. She worked for the City of Des Moines for 4 years and the City of Mason City for 30 years as a Chemist. On October 30, 1999, Beth married David Peterson at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mason City. The couple renewed their vows a year later at Wesley United Methodist Church. Beth was a history buff who enjoyed watching TV, spending time with her friends, reading, eating out, casino trips, playing cards – especially 500, and taking care of her cats “Lamont” and “Dasher”. She was a member of Westmar College Alumni.
Beth is survived by her husband of 16 years: David Peterson of Mason City; 2 sisters: Dr. Jeri Elliott of Webster City and Kris Hallenberg and husband Jim of Plymouth, MN; mother and father-in-law: Jack and Ruth Ann Peterson of Forest City; and 2 nephews: Weston and Blake Hallenberg. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
