Lloyd L. Fairbanks, 88, of Mason City, died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday (November 26, 2007) at St. John?s Episcopal Church, 120 1st St. N.E. with Rev. Wendy Abrahamson officiating. Inurnment will be in St. John?s Episcopal Church columbarium. Upon the family?s wishes his body will be cremated and there will be no visitation. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the St. John?s Episcopal Church and Hospice of North Iowa. Lloyd Lundin Fairbanks was born January 21, 1919 in Eureka, Montana. He was adopted at the age of six months by Harry and Florence (Hubbard) Fairbanks. He graduated from Mason City High School and then attended Mason City Junior College for two years and attended Iowa State University for 1 year. He then joined the United States Army where he served in WWII as a T-5 (Corp). He was discharged in 1945. He married Nancy E. Bowen on July 28, 1942 in Mason City. Lloyd returned home where he farmed until retiring and moving to Mason City in 1983. While farming, Lloyd was instrumental in the advancement of farming methods and he twice received Outstanding Young Farmer. He was a member of Kiwanis for 39 years, where he was treasurer and secretary for 17 years. He was a very active member of Farm Bureau since 1946 where he served in many capacities including president for three years. He was a long-time member of St. John?s Episcopal Church, where he was active in the church and as served as head usher for many years. He enjoyed fishing and watching all sports on television but his passion was farming and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Nancy Fairbanks of Mason City; daughters, Susan Palmer and husband Dennis of Murfreesboro, TN, Jean Kelley and husband Bill of Bradenton, FL, Laura Craig and husband Jeff of Mason City; son-in-law, Jim Schriock of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Stephanie Schriock of Washington D.C., and Charlie and Jon Schriock of Overland Park, KS; brother, Richard Fairbanks and wife Beulah of Mason City; sister, Doris Groh of Mason City; half-sister, Esther Holtzheimer and husband George of Great Falls, MT. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Schriock and half-brother, Robert Lundin
