Lorraine Brackey

Lorraine Brackey, 81, of Mason City went to be with her LORD and SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST, on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 3:20 p.m. She had been residing at the IOOF Home since her sudden illness on July 1, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 2, 2012 at First Baptist Church, 125 East State St. with Rev. Ron Stein officiating. Interment will be in the Stout Cemetery, Stout, Iowa, at 2:00 P.M. Thursday. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday (August 1, 2012) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Lorraine Brackey Memorial Fund in care of the family. Lorraine was born September 13, 1930 in New Hartford, Iowa, one of two twin daughters of Fred and Hattie (Brandt) Meyer. The family moved to Mason City in 1933. She attended Mason City schools. Lorraine and her family attended church at The Gospel Hall & Mason City Christian Assembly in Mason City. She accepted Jesus as her personal Saviour, on February 16, 1947. She was baptized on September 19, 1947. She worked at Mercy Hospital as a surgical technician until she took a job with Dr. V.E. Wicks, Podiatrist. She worked as receptionist, book keeper, medical assistant and surgical assistant for 42 years until her retirement in 1992. She was married to William J. Jones on September 12, 1959. To this union was born their only child, a daughter, Deneen Branstad of Mason City, IA. She married Telford J. 'Bud' Brackey in 1972. Lorraine enjoyed spending time with her family, reading her Bible and doing word search puzzles. She also enjoyed playing the piano, organ and singing Hymns. She is survived by her twin sister, Lois Epple of Grants Pass, OR, her daughter, Deneen Branstad and son-in-law Darwin of Mason City; her grandson, Justin T. Paulsen (Alyssa Porterfield) and grandaughter, Katey L. Paulsen; one great grandson, Joseph A. Branstad all of Mason City. She is also several special nieces and nephews. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; Fred and Hattie Meyer, her brother, Richard Meyer of Riverside, CA. and her husband, Telford 'Bud' Brackey. She was the very best Mother and Grandmother anyone could have ever asked for. She sacrificed many things for us. We appreciate all the love and kindness that she showed us throughout the years. We stand and honor her and call her Blessed. Thank you for everything you have done. You will be truly missed and we will all look forward to that day when we will all be reunited together again with our Heavenly Father. Until that day comes, may you rest in Heavenly peace.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Stout Cemetery, Stout, Iowa, at 2:00 P.M. Thursday.
