Lucille E. Stroup, 95, of Mason City, died Friday, May 22, 2009, at her residence in Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Faith Baptist Church, 1807 South Kentucky Ave. with the Rev. Miles Grismore officiating. Interment will be held in the Corwith Cemetery, Corwith, Iowa. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, (May 25, 2009) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or Faith Baptist Church.
Lucille was born on December 4, 1913 in Begota, Illinois the daughter of Charles H. and Viola (Reed) Brown. As a child she moved with her family to Corwith, Iowa in 1917 where she attended rural school and she graduated from Corwith High School. She married Loyd Stroup June 6, 1934. They lived in Corwith until 1963, they then moved to Hampton where her husband Loyd worked at Hampton Auto Supply and she worked as a food supervisor at the Hampton Nursing Home. In 1980 they moved to Mason City and Lucille has resided here since. Lucille was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed hardanger, cooking, visiting with family and friends and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.
She was an active member of the Faith Baptist Church in Mason City.
She is survived by her children, Arline Jennex of Chesaning, MI, Robert Stroup and wife Jo Ann of Colorado Springs, CO, Loyd Ron Stroup and wife Dianne of Mason City, Thomas Stroup and wife Donna of Mason City; ten grandchildren, Tim Jennex, John Jennex and wife Kathy, Sharon Jennex, Lisa Cooper and husband Gary, Amy Miller and husband Clay, Matthew Stroup and wife Kathy, Brian Stroup and wife Chereen, Jason Stroup and wife Lindsey, Amanda Eldridge and friend Joseph Alvarez and Kevin Stroup; twenty-two great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and brother-in-law, Kermit Engh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Loyd in 1982; two sisters, Pauline Marr and Jesse Engh; two brothers Delbert and Harold Brown; and son-in-law, Jack Jennex.
