Lucille Gretta Hoyt, 97, of Mason City, completed her life journey Friday, June 8, 2012 at home while under the care of Hospice of North Iowa. A celebration memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, June 18, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Inurnment will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Trinity Lutheran Church, or KCMR Radio. Lucille was born February 27, 1915 near Lohrville, Iowa. She was the 3rd of 7 children born to John and Elizabeth (Andre) Morgan. She became a beautician and had a hair styling shop in her home. Lucille and Benjamin B. Hoyt were married in Washington D.C. during WWII. Always a hard worker, she had several kinds of jobs. She was a city bus driver in Norfolk, Virginia, worked in a chicken factory, worked with Ben in his field tiling business, and was the Postmaster at Plymouth, Iowa for 20 years. She retired December 2, 1977. In 1995, Lucille and Ben moved from Mason City to Mesa, Arizona where they became involved with new friends and activities. In 2005, Lucille moved back to Mason City, where she enjoyed renewing acquaintances. She had a wonderful, active life. She was involved with her grandsons and all their activities, and watched her family expand as they married and had children. She often remarked what a blessing her family had been to her. Lucille was very healthy over the years until just weeks before her death, when she experienced kidney failure. She was able to be visited by all her family and many loved ones during this time. She looked toward her heavenly home with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Lucille’s family is very grateful to Dr. D. Timpe, Dr. Alscher, and the yellow Hospice of North Iowa team for their loving care of Lucille. Lucille is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laquetta (Jerry) Hansen of Mason City; 4 grandsons, David (Susan) of Corvallis, Oregon, Brian (Cheryl) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Bill (Julie) of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Greg (Jennifer) of Grimes, Iowa; 9 great-grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah), Abby (Jason) Jewett, Eric, Isaac, Madison, Justin, Jack, Grace, and Carson; 3 great great grandchildren, Noah, Landen, and Ashlyn; 1 brother, Junior M. Morgan of Ankeny, Iowa; many nieces and nephews Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ben in 2000; infant grandson, Matthew; brothers, Donald, Darald, Newell, and John; sister, Mildred Clutter; 1 niece and 3 nephews.
