Lucille Grace Killpack

Lucille Grace Killpack, 88, of Mason City died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia with Rev. Sean McRoberts officiating. Inurnment services will take place in the Memorial Park Columbarium. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church. Lucille Grace Killpack was born March 27, 1925 the daughter of William and Grace (Burnett) Saunders in Hillsdale, Illinois. She attended and graduated from Lyons Township High School, LaGrange, Illinois. Lucille graduated from Iowa State University in Home Economics in 1947. On July 12th, 1947 she married William D. “Bill” Killpack of Shaker Heights, Ohio at the congregational church in LaGrange. The Killpacks lived in Flanders, New Jersey for 14 years then spent 6 years farming in rural Logan, Iowa raising Register Aberdeen Angus Cattle. Bill then went into banking with the Geauga Co. National Bank, Chardon, Ohio then back to New Jersey to work in Banking. The family moved to Mason City in 1972 where Bill joined the United Home Bank and Trust. Lucille spent much of her time sewing, doing hand work, writing a journal, reading philosophical books and particularly enjoyed volunteering and joining study clubs. Before moving to Mason City, Lucille taught elementary school in New Jersey, having received elementary certification from Newark State University. Lucille was a member of the First United Methodist Church, UMW, PEO Chapter DZ where she was past president, Veleda and History Study Clubs, Panhellenic Association, Mason City Women’s Club, North Iowa Medical Center Volunteer and a KCMR Radio weekly announcer. Lucille is survived by her children, Sandra Lou (John) Dominy of Houston, Texas, William Killpack of Richmond, Virginia, Robert (Jane) Killpack of Albert Lea, Minnesota, David (Ashley) Killpack of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, and Richard Killpack of Clear Lake; son –in-law, David Houser of Roanoke, Texas; 5 Grandchildren.
