Luella M. 'Susie' Bouck

MASON CITY: Luella M. “Susie” Bouck, 101, of Mason City, died Monday, November 4, 2013 at the IOOF Home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Chaplain Dave Byrd officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. An inurnment service will take place after the memorial service in Oakwood Cemetery, Plymouth, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Luella Bouck Memorial Fund. Susie was born August 19, 1912 in Plymouth, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Anna (Factor) Rose. Following her mother’s death in 1920 from the influenza pandemic, Susie, with her 4 siblings, went to live at the Iowa Odd Fellows and Orphans Home. She would go on to graduate from Mason City High School then attend Hamilton Business College. Susie worked as the office manager for Grippen Paper Company for 46 years. She was a charter member of the Pilot Club. Susie enjoyed helping others in numerous ways such as offering rides, shopping, and companionship. A few of her interests included singing, playing piano, cooking, and rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bulls. Susie is survived by a sister-in-law, Maxine Rose of Mason City; brother-in-law, Orlando Calicchia of Mason City; nieces and nephews, Fred Rose of Mason City, Jim Rose of Mason City, Kathy Rose Musson of Park City, Utah, Judy Alitz Christensen of Streetsboro, Ohio, Billie Marie Rose Waychus of Hampton, Ronnie (Nancy) Vogel of Omaha, Nebraska, Sharon Vogel Nickerson and Theo Vogel Poole of Desert Hot Springs, California; and many great nieces and nephews. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Ervin, Fred, and Barney; and 2 sisters, Genevieve Vogel, and Dorothy Calicchia; sister-in-law Billie Oelberg Rose; brother-in-law George Vogel; nephew Roger Vogel.
