M. Dean Browning

Mason City M. Dean Browning, 84, of Mason City, died Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 100 1st Street N.E. with Pastor Charles Aurand officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the church service. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Congregational United Church of Christ or the Rotary Club.
Dean was born on October 16, 1924 in Boone, Iowa, the son of Willis and Olive (Johnson) Browning. Dean was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He graduated from Iowa State University (Civil Engineering). He married Donna E. Hattam on September 1, 1948 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He worked for the Iowa DOT for 35 years before retiring. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and the Rotary Club. Dean was also a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed the outdoors, planting trees, and gardening. He had a true love for dogs.
He is survived by his son: Dean M. (Keri) Browning of Denver, CO; his daughters: Rozan (Ken) Lockhart of Naples, FL, Cathy Browning (Mark Belich) of Duluth, MN; one grandson: Nic Blanchard of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law: Gloria (Norm) Fischer of Lacon, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife Donna in 2006, his parents, one brother: Wayne Browning; one sister: Judy Mace.
