Mabel E. Otto, 91, Mason City died Sunday, September 7, 2003 at Heritage Care Center with her family at her side. Funeral Services for Mabel will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 South Pennsylvania with Rev. Bill Poland officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, Iowa. Visitation for Mabel will be held 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa. Mabel E. Hall was born August 10, 1912 in Ulster Township, Southeast of Rudd, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Iva (Blunt) Hall. Mabel graduated from Rockford High School and came to Mason City in 1936. She was a pastry cook for 35 years retiring in 1978. On May 29, 1932 Mabel was united in marriage to Earl K. Hutchison in Rockford, Iowa. They enjoyed many happy years together until Earl?s death on February 12, 1957. She was then united in marriage to Arlie I. Otto on May 18, 1958 in Mason City. Mabel was a long-time member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed every Tuesday volunteering time tying quilts and sewing at the Senior Citizen?s Center. Mabel was also a volunteer for R.S.V.P. Club. She enjoyed cooking for her family, playing cards, tending to her flowers. What brought the most warmth to her heart were the family get-togethers. Those left to cherish her memory are: Daughter:Eileen Steinwandt and husband Henry ?Hank? of Mason City Granddaughter:Teresa MacDougall and husband Craig of Mason City Grandson:Steve Steinwandt and wife Mary of Georgetown, Kentucky Granddaughter:Tammy Bryant and husband Ted of Mason City Granddaughter:Karen Steinwandt of Traer, Iowa Six Great Grandchildren: Amber Steinwandt of Kissamee, Florida Christina MacDougall of Mason City Phillip MacDougall of Mason City Gregory Bryant of Mason City Sarah Bryant of Mason City Danielle Steinwandt of Traer, Iowa Several Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Earl Hutchison, second husband Arlie I. Otto and her sister Dora Hartfelder.
