Mae Betty Cota, 90, of 320 Willowbrook Drive, died Thursday, September 1, 2005 at USA Healthcare. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams with Rev. Jon Seda officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. A scriptural wake service will be held at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa. Mae was born October 18, 1913 in Fort Dodge, Iowa the daughter of Alvin and Myrel (Wyatt) Kellum. Her family moved to Mason City was she was 12 years old. Mae graduated from Mason City High School in 1932. She married Paul Francis Cota October 17, 1932 in Elks Point, South Dakota. Mae served as office manager at Kellum Interiors for 35 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Mason City Women?s Club and past secretary of the American Legion. Mae enjoyed fishing in Canada, golfing, flowers and gardening. Mae is survived by her husband, Paul Cota of Mason City; daughter, Joanne Austin of California; sons, Fred Cota and wife Nancy of Elizabethtown, Illinois, John Cota and wife Marcia of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; many great grandchildren. Mae was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Esther Pringle; brothers, Cecil and Alfred Kellum.
