Marcia I. Butcher, 90, passed away on October 18, 2023, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2023, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family of Marcia Butcher.
Marcia Butcher was born on May 4, 1933, in Evanston, Illinois to parents Marshall and Velma (Pierce) Brown. She graduated from Mason City High School. After graduating she began working at the Government Employees Credit Union then Hy-Vee, doing so for many years. On February 9, 1952, in Mason City Marcia was united in marriage to Floyd “Bud” Butcher.
Marcia was an avid reader and had a never-ending love for her family. She was extremely kind and nurturing with a willingness to care for her whole family and babysit her grandchildren. Marcia also looked forward to her weekly gatherings with her bridge group.
Marcia is survived by her children, Ken (Maureen) Butcher, Steve Butcher, Brenda (Larry) Pyle, Betty (Larry) Wade; siblings, Donna (Jerry) Braughton, Jerry Brown, Jack Brown; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Velma Brown; husband Floyd Butcher; sister, Patricia Wood; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Butcher.
Service will be held at a future date
