Marguerite H. Hanson

Marguerite H. Hanson, 89, of Mason City, died Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 15, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 100 1st St. N.E., with Pastor Patti Aurand officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 14, 2008 from 4:00- 6:00 PM at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Marguerite Hanson memorial fund. Marguerite was born November 2, 1918 in Plymouth, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Harriet (Paul) Stangler. She attended school in Plymouth and graduated from Mason City High School in 1938. She was married to Earl P. Hanson on June 16, 1940 at the First Congregational Church in Mason City.  She was a homemaker most of her life and took great pride in her home and taking care of her family.  She also worked at Mercy Hospital for a period of time. She enjoyed playing bingo, painting, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Twins, and Minnesota Vikings. She was a member of the Senior Citizen Center and a long time member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Mason City. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Shafer and husband Frank of Mason City; son, Richard Hanson and wife Cathy of Woodbury, MN and Robert Hanson of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren, Donna Shafer, Tom Shafer, Lori Bublitz and husband Jeff, Scott Shafer and wife Toni, Alissa Fruetel and Lindsey Hanson; six great-grandchildren, Casey, Nicole, Cody, Kari, Logan, A.J., Riley and Ava; sisters, Elizabeth Gregory of Mason City, Joanne White and husband Robert of Ventura, Harriet Krutsinger and husband Richard of Clear Lake; brother, Donald Stangler and wife Pat of Mason City and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl Hanson in 1996, brothers, Ed Stangler, Joe Stangler; sisters, Dorothy Hansen and Lorraine Anderson.

Memorials:
Memorials may be directed to the Marguerite H. Hanson memorial fund in care of the family.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation:
Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Service:
Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 15, 2008 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ at 100 1st St. N.E. in Mason City.
