Mariestelle Brown

MASON CITY: Mariestelle Katherine Brown, 86, of Mason City, died Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the IOOF Home. Private family services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. The family has requested cremation services take place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the NIACC Foundation. Mariestelle was born August 25, 1927 in Deadwood, South Dakota the daughter of Gordon and Velma (Salzburg) Miller. She was united in marriage to Donald W. Brown May 31, 1950 in Mason City. In 1967, Mariestelle began her teaching career at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). She retired in 2003. She is survived by her husband, Donald W. Brown of Mason City; daughter, Chrisanne (Paul) Peterson of Mason City; granddaughter, Sethanne (Bryan) DeGabrielle of Mason City; great grandson, Drew DeGabrielle of Mason City; sister, Jane (Richard) Barnette of Beaverton, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents.
