Marilyn J. Heatherton, 81 of Mason City died Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services for Marilyn will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 11, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 Willowbrook Drive, with the Rev. Terry Hamilton-Poore officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood ? St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation for Marilyn will be from 4:00 P.M. ? 7:00 P.M., Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be directed to: Hospice of North Iowa, the American Cancer Society or the First Presbyterian Church. Marilyn J. Marmie was born August 7, 1923 the daughter of John and Stella (Fuller) Marmie in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Marilyn was raised in the Waterloo area and graduated from East Waterloo High School. On July 7, 1943 Marilyn was united in marriage to Kenneth R. Heatherton in Nashua, Iowa. They moved to Cedar Falls in 1948 and later to Mason City in 1956. Marilyn was a bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward for seventeen years and also a bookkeeper for Benderoff Asphalt Paving for nine years. She then worked for Donnelly Cable also as a bookkeeper for two years. Marilyn then went to work for Sedars Motor Company, also as a bookkeeper, and did so until her retirement in 1994 after ten years of service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mason City. Marilyn?s greatest hobby and love was always her family. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda Heatherton and special friend, Donald Starcevich of West Des Moines; her son Kenneth M. ?Mike? Heatherton and fiancé Kathy Keller of Clive, Iowa; grandchildren, Amy Wyborny and husband Bruce of Mason City, and Sara Bengfort and husband Colin of West Des Moines; a sister, Barbara Monroe and husband Ronald of Denver, Iowa; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Rachel and Kyle Wyborny all of Mason City; brother-in-law, Charles Parman of Pickering, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Mary Marmie of Waterloo, Anna Nelson of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Mary Francis Little of Boca Raton, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, two brothers, Gordan and Roland Marmie and one sister, Gerry Parman.
