Mark G. Mennen

Mark G. Mennen, 49, of 1700 Yorktown Circle SW, Decatur, Alabama a former Mason City resident died Thursday (June 12, 2003) in Mason City. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th Street NW, with Rev. Sarah Rohret Odoom officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour before services Monday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Mark G. Mennen Memorial Fund. Mark was born August 31, 1953 in Mason City the son of Richard and Dixie (Geiler) Mennen. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1971 and from Iowa State University in 1975. Mark worked as a chemical engineer for Monsanto for one and one half years in St. Louis then moved to Alvin, Texas. He married Vickie G. Smidt in August of 1973. She preceded him in death in 1979. He then married Beckie Hood in 1981. In 1997 they moved to Decatur, Alabama where currently Mark worked for Solutia Inc as lead engineer. He is survived by his wife; Beckie Mennen of Decatur, AL, Daughter; Emily Chambers and husband Byron of Shawnee, KS, Son; Eric Mennen of Decatur, AL, Step-daughter; Keri Nelson of Decatur, AL, Grandchildren; Lauren and Tyler Chambers of Shawnee, KS, Parents; Richard and Dixie Mennen of Mason City, Brother; Paul Mennen of Chicago, IL, Mother and Father-in-law; James and Doris Patterson of Decatur, AL and many other family members. Mark was preceded in death by his first wife; Vickie, grandparents; Karl and Florence Geiler, Ecko and Florence Mennen.
