Marlene E. Wallace, 76, of Mason City, died Monday, September 8, 2003 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, from complications of cancer. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Pastor David Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held 5 ? 8 P.M. Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Memorials may be directed to the Marlene E. Wallace Memorial Fund. Marlene E. Rasmussen was born June 19, 1927 in Crystal Lake, IA the daughter of Edward W. and Elnora (Johnson) Rasmussen. Marlene was united in marriage to Charles B. O?Banion and had a daughter, Charlotte. They were married for 20 years until Charles? death. Marlene later married James F. Wallace, and they were married for 30 years until his death. Marlene worked in several bakeries, was a restaurant worker, and most recently retired from Goodwill after 10 years. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, and was a former member of the Mason City VFW Auxiliary. Marlene enjoyed crafts, especially making them for her family. She was also an excellent baker and is remembered by her grandchildren for her special pancakes. Marlene is survived by her daughter Charlotte (O?Banion) Galkin and her husband Charles of Mason City, her grandchildren: Dawn Busick of Mason City, Charles Galkin and wife Carrie of Mason City, and Brenda Reich and her husband Steve of Quasqueton, IA. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and her brothers Kenneth Rasmusson of Mason City, Delmon Rasmusson and his wife Bonnie of Minnesota, Mearle Rasmusson and wife Linda of Algona, IA, and Calvin Rasmusson and his wife Leann of Mason City; and an aunt, Clara Kuntz of Missouri. Marlene was also a favorite aunt of many nieces and nephews. Marlene was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles B. O?Banion and James F. Wallace, her parents, a sister Vivian Vosburgh, and brothers Andrew and Raymond Rasmusson.
