Marlin L. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N Pennsylvania Ave. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to the family of Marlin Fosse.

Marlin's story began on January 21, 1936, in Mason City, where he was born to Andrew and Bertha (Furness) Fosse. A proud graduate of Mason City High School in 1954, he later pursued his education at Hamilton Business College. Later he completed his coursework at Buena Vista to become a CPA.

In June of 1954, Marlin enlisted in the United States Army. For three years, he honored that call with integrity, before receiving an honorable discharge on June 10, 1957. But it wasn't long after that he would find his true partner in life. On September 29, 1962, Marlin married the love of his life, Lucille Zeigler, in a beautiful ceremony at Kanawha Methodist Church. Together for 62 years, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and a steadfast commitment to one another.

Marlin found fulfillment in his career, beginning his professional journey at Bertram Cooper & Co. in Clear Lake, then lending his expertise to Renner & Berchem during tax seasons. Though reserved by nature, Marlin's quick wit could light up a room, surprising those around him with a clever remark or an unexpected joke that left his family and friends smiling.

What truly brought Marlin joy was the time spent with family, especially on the countless trips they took together. From the early days of traveling with Lucille and their daughters to later adventures with grandchildren in tow, these family journeys created memories that will be cherished forever. Whether it was a long road trip or a simple afternoon of storytelling, Marlin's presence brought comfort and warmth.

An avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings, Marlin could often be found cheering for his teams, his quiet demeanor momentarily giving way to bursts of excitement. He also found joy in the more leisurely pursuits of life—he loved a good round of golf, spending time at the bowling alley in his league, or sitting down to a friendly but competitive game of cribbage. His talent for cards was well-known, and he rarely backed down from a challenge.

Marlin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and took great pride in his involvement with the Clear Lake Noon Lions, where he made lasting connections and gave back to his community.

Marlin is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 62 years, Lucille, and his loving children: Brenda Anderson, Lori (Scott) Gauch, Vickie Manuel, and Krista (Jeff) Morton. He also leaves behind a legacy in his grandchildren: Kelsey (Marshall), Brandon (Mary), Cole, Logan (Chase), Sarah, Jarod (Olivia), Paige, Erika, Connor, and Bryan. Marlin's influence and love will continue to echo in their hearts for generations to come.

He is reunited with his parents, Andrew and Bertha, and his siblings, Adele Comstock, Myrna Adams, and Roald Fosse, as well as his niece, Donna Elias, who preceded him in death.

Marlin's memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his quiet strength, kind spirit, and deep love for his family. While he may no longer be with us in person, his presence will forever be felt in the laughter shared, the stories told, and the love that continues to bind his family together.
